Morning Coffee and Afternoon Tea in Frankfurt

Frankfurt is Europe's transit hub and most people passing through never leave the airport. Their loss. My two favorite in-transit excursions are:

* Opernplatz, between the beautiful Frankfurt Opera House and the city's gleaming skyscrapers. Here, the Operncafe serves the best coffee in town--frothy, creamy, large, with tasty chocolates on the side. A morning coffee can easily stretch into a salmon brunch or a candlelit dinner.

* Kronberg, just outside the city, is all cobbled lanes, half-timbered houses, and forgotten magic forest. The Schlosshotel and its grounds here was originally a castle built by Empress Frederick in the late 1800s. I recommend afternoon tea.
